Earlier this year we caught up with Deb and she very kindly contributed to our Christmas Guide with her 'A Fabulous Christmas' feature find out more below.

I love Christmas… cosy interiors, comfort food, advent, candles and family winter walks with our dog. There’s something very special about the countdown to Christmas and everything that brings. I gradually introduce festive touches around out home and once December arrives, it’s time to deck the halls!

This year hasn’t gone quite how we would have hoped and home will be even more important to us. My plan is to make our home a Winter sanctuary, a place for to relax and be together.

Shopping Small

I love to shop with small, independent businesses especially at Christmas when they produce the most gorgeous and unique festive touches.

Candles

Candles create a beautiful, comforting atmosphere perfect for Winter. I have a scent I burn all year round, but for Christmas I like to burn some festive scents including a warm gingerbread that smells just like freshly baked biscuits. I like to repurpose vases and zinc pots to create festive touches for the kitchen table and windows by adding moss, greenery and candles.

Cushions & Throws

As Winter arrives I find myself adding more cushions and throws to the sofa, perfect for cosy family time watching a movie.  I mix textures to create somewhere we can snuggle with a hot chocolate.

Greenery

During Winter I’m forever adding greenery around our home, whether it be an ivy and spruce garland on the fireplace or moss lining hurricane lamps.  Dog walks become the perfect opportunity to fill a little bag with greenery.

Comfort Food

In our home, Winter is all about food. Comfort food cravings kick in and I find myself baking more than ever… mince pies, gingerbread and chocolate cinnamon loaf are regularly available in our house.  My favourite way to graze during Winter is a wooden board filled with cheeses, meats, pickles and crackers… my love for chopping boards comes in handy at this time of year, when everything is presented on a board dressed with herbs and fruit.
